Porn stars might soon be required to wear condoms and goggles

If you are into science laboratory role play porn then this wouldn’t be much of an issue for you. Your protective goggle fetish is about to go mainstream. And if like any science lover you are all about health and safety, the law would also be forcing porn stars to wear condoms for their films. While, the concern for the wellbeing of pornographic stars is somewhat touching, is it really worth it to impose a law on them that literally threatens their livelihood?

A law in the Los Angeles County that required porn stars to wear condoms resulted in a whopping 90% drop of producers applying for permits to shoot films from 2012 to 2013. If just the enforcement of condoms can cause that much of a rift, one can only imagine what protective googles would do to the industry in California. When you take into account that only a decade ago the Los Angeles Country was home to an estimated $4 billion porn industry, this is not pocket change we are talking about.

The proposal of this new law is largely championed by HIV-positive porn stars that claim to have contracted the virus on set, but an industry trade group The Free Speech Coalition claims that the current 14day HIV test requirement is more than enough for a safety margin siting that there hasn’t been an on-set infection since 2004.

Without a doubt the Californian porn industry would all but fold up if this law passes the ballot on November 8, 2016. I for one cannot imagine anyone choosing to watch condom and goggle protected porn. Not when the internet is crawling with terabytes of free porn more capable of satisfying the viewers fantasy.
