The suspect who earned the nickname, 'Vampire killer', was reportedly sentenced to death by lethal injection after he slit the throat of a 12-yr-old boy, drank his blood before mutilating his body.

The man identified as Pablo Lucio Vasquez was put to death by lethal injection following the Texas state death chamber in Huntsville.

Officials reportedly reveal that the 38-year-old had been pronounced dead at 6.35pm local time after he had killed 12-year-old David Cardenas in the town of Donna in Texas in April 1998.

Vasquez had revealed during his trial:

“The devil was telling me to take [David's head] away from him.”

A videotaped confession shown to the jury, reveals Vasquez saying:

"One side of my head said, 'You did wrong'. The other side said, 'Keep doing it. Keep doing it'."'

The reports further reveal that Vasquez, who had been 20 years old at the time of the crime, had reportedly attended a party with a cousin of his, Andy Chapa, 15, where he had met the victim.

The trio had been walking home from the party when Vasquez, reportedly drunk and high on cocaine, had hit Cardenas over the head with a pipe before slitting his throat.

The duo had then taken Cardenas body to a field where they had reportedly scalped him, cut off one of his arms, as well as some part of the other, then skinned his back.
