A Californian man uses his wisdom tooth as engagement ring to propose to his fiancee.

Lucan Unger proposed to Carlee Leifkes on Halloween, and he did it with a ring consisting of his wisdom tooth in lieu of a diamond.

Carlee loved her unique engagement ring so much she posted it on Facebook. She said:

"So incredibly excited to marry my best friend, the man who knows that his wisdom tooth means more to me than a diamond. Can’t wait to be a weirdo with you and dance our way through life to Thee Oh Sees and Black Sabbath. We have never been the “traditional couple”, why the heck start now?"

The couple planned the ring together after meeting at a music festival in Canada earlier this year.

‘When we’d spoken about it, I’d said that diamonds are so overrated,’ Carlee told Buzzfeed. ‘My birthstone is a diamond. I don’t need one to prove how much someone loves me. He’d already moved all the way from Canada to do that!’

So, they called up Lucas’ dad, who’d handily saved his son’s wisdom teeth following an operation to remove them when he was younger, and got him to mail one over.

They then asked a jeweller to turn it into an engagement ring.

And Carlee loves that she stands out from the crowd. ‘What does a diamond signify in anybody’s relationship?’ she asks, adding: ‘I literally have my husband’s wisdom on my finger.’

The couple will be married in Vegas by Elvis later this year.
