A 44-year old father is being investigated on suspicions that he beat his 7-year-old son to death and then fed the boy's body to pigs.

Michael A Jones, 44 was arrested after he attacked his 29-year-old wife, Heather Jones, by firing a gun at her.

According to KCTV, as police continued their investigation, they were alerted to check for the decomposed body of a missing 7-year-old boy.

The next day, they discovered the decomposing remains of Jones’s seven-year-old son.

Locals who knew the couple said they had eight children, aged between one and 11, but their son had gone missing earlier this year.

Investigators are worried that the remains of the child were fed to pigs, according to a police source. The corpse has yet to be formally identified.

‘Their house was horrible,’ one woman told local station WSFA on condition of anonymity. ‘Their house was just filthy. The kids lived in filth. Trash everywhere, dried food all over the house.’

And former babysitters for the family said a number of people had contacted child services about the kids.

The seven other children are now believed to be in protective custody.

The 44-year-old is being held at the Wyandotte County Jail on a $10m (200 million Naira) bond on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery and child abuse.
