Teenager reports to police after killing Landlady, daughter, grandchildren in inferno

The suspect identified simply as Sunday, is reportedly in the custody of the police in Abuja after he reportedly killed his parents’ landlady, identified only as Mama Moses as well as her daughter and three grand children.

The suspect identified simply as Sunday, is reportedly in the custody of the police in Abuja after he reportedly killed his parents’ landlady, identified only as Mama Moses as well as her daughter and three grand children.

PUNCH Metro reports that Sunday who lives with his parents in the the landlady’s residence at Tudun-Fulani, in the Bwari area of the Federal Capital Territory, had reported himself to the police after committing the dastardly act.

The reports reveal  that the suspect had locked the deceased in their apartment after they had slept on that fateful night, before spraying the house with petrol and setting it ablaze.

Sunday had reportedly watched as the fire raged on, making sure that the victims were trapped, before heading to the Bwari Police Division.

The inferno had according to reports, lasted for hours before other residents had been able to put it out.

The charred remains of the five victims which were found in the apartment was eventually removed from the razed apartment and deposited in a morgue by the police.

PUNCH Metro further reports that Sunday’s mother has fled from the community following the incident which had taken place on Thursday, April 14.

Correspondents gathered that there had been a disagreement between the suspect and the landlady’s family members, during which he had reportedly threatened to deal with them.

Further revealed was the fact that there had been a relationship between the landlady’s daughter and Sunday, which had ended recently.

A police source reportedly revealed that Sunday who had kept the family at arms length following their disagreement, had shocked himself and his colleagues when he had turned up at the station to reports his crime.

The source revealed to PUNCH Metro, saying:

“Last Thursday, after the family members had gone to bed, the suspect locked their apartment’s door from outside, drenched the building with fuel and set the house ablaze. By the time the police got there, they had been burnt beyond recognition.

“I was told that he and the landlady’s daughter were dating each other until recently when their relationship turned sour. He had been transferred to another division for further investigation.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in Abuja, ASP Anjuguri Manzah, has confirmed the incident to PUNCH Metro, adding that the commissioner of police, FCT, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
