"Nigeria will do well in Agriculture if properly managed" - Uni Abuja VC

The Vice Chancellor of University of Abuja, Prof. Michael Adikwu has said agriculture should be the mainstay of Nigeria’s economy.

The VC said Nigeria started having hitches in the economy when it veered off to face other sectors.Speaking in Abuja at the signing of memorandum of understanding between the varsity and a firm, Agricular Services limited on the development of UniAbuja Agricultural City (Green Town), he said Nigeria could do well in agriculture if properly managed.He said the proposed Agricultural City would be pursued with vigor because of its prospect of turning around the lives of the varsity community.The Chief Executive Officer of Agricular Services limited, Mr. Chigozie Oguine said the proposed city was to be seated in about 2000 hectares of land within the vast arable land of the varsity community to cover agriculture, municipality, hospitality and electricity development.He said the project would also increase the financial capacity of the varsity stakeholders who would be involved in the production activities.
