The Joint Military Task Force in Niger Delta has arrested eight suspected oil thieves.
8 nabbed for oil bunkering in Delta State
The suspects were arrested while trying to vandalise an oil pipeline that belong to Agip.
Longinus Adizua and Ijeoma Chidi were arrested by men of the Operation Pulo Shield unit of JTF while vandalising a pipeline belonging to Agip.
According to a statement from the Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre, Lt. Col. Ado Isa, the JTF’s Sector 5 special squad discovered an oil theft syndicate that specialised in pipeline vandalism.
The suspects and items recovered were reportedly handed over to 34 Artillery Brigade Provost Group.
Lt. Col Ado Isa also revealed that the another unit of the JTF operating along Sapele-Warri checkpoint in Delta State, also arrested Collins Duru and Chidi Eme for illegal oil bunkering.
“The arrest was the aftermath of a discovery of three vehicles loaded with suspected illegally-acquired diesel parked on the premises of Jes Mota Company in Sapele. The vehicles and the products were evacuated to a safe place and destroyed in line with the JTF’s mandate. The arrested suspects were handed over to a sister agency for further action,” Lt. Col Ado Isa said.
