Gwen Jorgensen wins latest ITU World Triathlon Series race in Hamburg

Gwen Jorgensen equalled Emma Moffatt's record of four ITU World Triathlon Series victories in a season with success in Hamburg on Saturday.

The American became the first woman to win six events when she claimed victory in Chicago two weeks ago, and she was at it again in Germany as she took a commanding lead in the overall standings.

Jorgensen was among the leading pack in the swim before a solid ride saw her well in contention.

The 28-year-old then produced a storming run, gradually moving through the field and making a break to finish the race in 56 minutes and 54 seconds.

That was six seconds quicker than Australian Emma Jackson, with Canada's Kirsten Sweetland close behind in third.

With two races in the calendar remaining, victory extended Jorgensen's overall standings lead to 903 points over Great Britain's Jodie Stimpson, who finished in fifth on Saturday, 21 seconds slower than her rival.

"It was really hard," said Jorgensen. "I didn't have a great position on the bike and the run was hard too.

"Those girls really made me work! [The four wins] are a testament to what great support I have."

In the men's event, Alistair Brownlee claimed his first victory of an injury plagued-season as the Briton prepared for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in perfect fashion.

Brownlee posted a winning time of 51 minutes and 43 seconds, two seconds ahead of France's Vincent Luis.

Alistair's brother Jonathan was third, five seconds adrift of his elder sibling, a result that saw him move to second in the overall standings.

Jonathan Brownlee now sits 496 points behind Spain's Javier Gomez, who had won four of the previous five races.

Alistair's Brownlee's success moved him up to eighth, while Mario Mola's ninth-placed finish was enough to see him hold on to third in the overall rankings, 511 points behind his compatriot Gomez.
