It's not uncommon to hear ladies bemoan the fact that gentlemen seem to be in short supply these days. Now before we go any further, let us reiterate that nothing is sexier than a gentleman. A well-mannered, polished guy is the first choice of any classy, forward-thinking 21st century lady any day, so let's get that straight.

With the fast-paced world we now live in, many rules of etiquette which folks held up fiercely in the past have now fallen by the wayside, dismissed as mere inconveniences and unbefitting of the 21st century world.

Well folks, we're here to dispel that notion. Guys, there are several ladies who still find a gentleman sexy. Now that we've established that, let's walk you through a few rules of etiquette that will have you ahead of the pack...and scoring a few points too.

  1. Hold open doors: This never gets old. Whether its a door to a room or a car door, holding open a door for a lady in this time is not a very common sight which makes it all the more endearing. Stand out from the pack and hold open a door for a lady today and watch your 'cool' rating soar a few notches.

  2. Stand when a lady enters the room: Now guys, before you go standing every time a lady enters the room, this is more appropriate when you're in a small, private gathering. Say in a meeting or even more ideal, when an expected female member of a dinner party arrives at the table. It's good manners to stand and acknowledge the presence of the fairer sex.

  3. Walk on the curb-side of the street: This  isn't just gentlemanly, but also a tad chivalric, and chivalry in 2015 is about as commonplace as dinosaurs. If you're walking on a road with a lady, it is proper that she walks away from the curb, while you walk curb-side to protect her from any unforeseen danger. Sounds cool, yes?

  4. Be punctual on dates: Dear guys, it is a big no-no to keep a lady waiting. If you're going to be late to a date or appointment, then by all means call ahead saying you'll be a few minutes late.

  5. Do not talk about money on the dinner table: Nothing is tackier or a bigger turn off than a man who whines about money, be it the cost of an item or just general money worries. It's all kinds of wrong, just don't do it. Save the money talk for your guys or better still, your account officer.
