The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), of the Ekiti State Police Command, Ado- Ekiti, has arrested one Wale Ede, a 25-year-old man, for allegedly beheading a 50-year-old father of seven, Joshua Olaseinde Fagbola,a Patrol Assistant with the Directorate of Road Traffic Service popularly called VIO.

The incident, according to the police, happened on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Iro quarters in Iyin-Ekiti in Irepodun/ Ifelodun local government area of the state.

It was learnt that Ede attacked the victim as he was about to start the engine of his motorcycle after the conclusion of the wake-keep of a relative.

Eyewitnesses say Ede brought out a cutlass from the umbrella he was holding and cut down Fagbola, first from his neck and then his face and other parts of his body.

The victim who was in the pool of his own blood eventually gave up the ghost in the arms of his wife in an undisclosed hospital in the community.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Alberto Adeyemi, confirmed the incident and said that the suspect was being held at the CID, Police headquarters, in Ado-Ekiti.

"It has been reported that Wale Ede allegedly beheaded Mr Fagbola on March 20. It was reported that the deceased had on Thursday, March 19, seized the suspect’s cell phone for failing to provide the blocks he had paid him for.

The suspect and the deceased then met at a wake keep event on March 20 where the suspect allegedly cut the deceased to death with a sharp cutlass. We are still investigating the matter."
