Rape suspect escapes through court window before arraignment

Reports had it that the rape suspect was getting set for an arraignment when he broke the louvres and escaped into a bush.

Okpara Miracle, a rape suspect in Awka, Anambra has reportedly escaped through a window while he was being prepared for an arraignment in court.

According to the Daily Post, the suspect managed to escape after his handcuffs were removed, offering him an opportunity to break the louvres of the room where he was being held.

Miracle was arrested by the police on the suspicion of kidnapping, rape and cultism.

He reportedly hid a minor at an uncompleted building whom he had unconsented sexual intercourse with.

Speaking concerning the matter, a source named Awana Amba said, “The accused was brought to the court in handcuff, but the handcuff was later unlocked with the hope that he will be of good behaviour before the unexpected happened.”

Magistrate N.A. Onunkwo has urged the police not to relent on its efforts to recapture the suspect who is expected to pay for his crimes.
