Young lady kidnapped by friends rescued by police unharmed
A young graduate who was kidnapped by her friends to collect ransom from her parents has been rescued.
A statement from the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that the pretty graduate of Nursing, was found at Odogbolu, a part of the state where she was rescued, while two suspects have been arrested in connection with the abduction.
Adejobi said immediately the case of Anochie’s kidnap was reported at the Ikenne division of the command, strategies to rescue her were put in place, forensic investigation and Information Communication Technology skills adopted by the police in the rescue operation compelled the kidnappers to release the victim unhurt and with no ransom paid.
“Presently, the command, through its Anti- Kidnapping Squad of the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta, has two suspects who are ‘close friends’ of Anochie,” Adejobi said.
However, a family member disclosed that some money was paid to the kidnappers who released the lady before the police found her where she was kept.
“She (Anochie) was released on Friday and the family paid money to the kidnappers. But I will not disclose the amount for security reasons. She is safe now. Four gunmen carried out the kidnap.”
