A 19-year-old girl has committed suicide by drinking poison after her boyfriend called off their relationship.

It was gathered that Obiora and the alleged lover, Ernest Ihaza, had the quarrel at Alhaji Ede Avenue in Igando area of Lagos State, after she had gone to visit him for the weekend, and she ended up taking her life by drinking a poisonous substance said to be Sniper, a very powerful insecticide, as she could not cope with life without him.

According to a close source, the deceased had been informed that Ihaza was dating another lady in his area and when she confronted him, he told her he was no longer in love with her, something she could not take.

It was learnt that during the verbal confrontation between them, Ihaza was said to have stormed out of his apartment and on when he got back home after a while, he reportedly met Obiora writhing in pains on the floor holding on to her stomach.

Ihaza reportedly rushed her to a hospital where it was discovered she had drank poison and gave up the ghost. Ihaza later reported the case at the Igando Police Division, where he was arrested and detained.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dolapo Badmus, confirmed the incident and added:

“Ernest Ihaza reported at the Igando Police Station that his girlfriend, Uche Obiora, committed suicide by drinking snipers insecticide. We are investigating the matter.”
