A supposed man of God identified simply as Prophet Emmanuel, is currently in the cell of the Surulere Police Division in Lagos, after he allegedly beat his wife, Funke, to a state of coma and breaking her leg in the process.
He was arrested by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT), who handed him over to the police.
According to reports, the prophet who is said to have a fiery temper, had a misunderstanding with his wife and descended on her so hard that she lost consciousness as well as having a fractured left leg to boot.

Speaking on the incident, the DSVRT Coordinator, Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, described the incident as ridiculous and unlawful.
Vivour-Adeniyi said the state government would not condone domestic violence and urged the victims of sexual and gender-based violence to speak out.
“The government is ready to fight all such cases and ensure that justice is done.
