84-yr-old 'Babalawo' sentenced to death for murder
A herbalist who instructed his clients to procure a human being for money ritual has been sentenced to death in Osun State.
Punch reports that Fagbemi, alongside three of his clients, Tobi Ojo, Fatumuwa Femi, and Tope Olatunji, were convicted by Justice Kudirat Akano of an Osun State High Court, Ilesa, Osun State, after being found guilty of the two-count charges of conspiracy and murder.
It was gathered that the three men had approached Fagbemi to make money ritual for them and he instructed them to bring a human being whom they would use for the ritual.
The convicts were arraigned on the two counts which are contrary to sections 324 and 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 34, Volume 2, Law of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The counsel from Ministry of Justice, Abiodun Badiora, had told the court that the convicts committed the crime On April 13, 2012, adding that Ajayi was killed for money ritual.
“The headless body of the deceased was recovered from a septic tank, but his genital and part of his leg had been removed.”
In delivering judgment, Justice Akano found the four convicts guilty on the two counts preferred against them, and duly sentenced them to death by hanging.
