One other strange problem is the high rate of abandonment of high end cars at Dubai airport parking lots.

Many people take loans to buy cars for show off (a lot of the time). When they can no longer afford to pay back the loans, they abandon their cars and run away.
Due to absence of protection on bankruptcy, failure to pay credit cards, pay back loans, even as little as a bounced check can, can you earn you prison time.
These cars are sold at auctions very cheap prices by the Police.
