Father arrested for chaining 13-yr-old son over N2K

A wicked father has been arrested by the police in Ogun State for brutalizing and chaining his son for allegedly stealing N2,000.

The father from hell, Adeoye Oreyomi

Vanguard reports that Oreyomi who resides at 9, Dokun Street, Ewuga, Shagamu, was arrested by operatives attached to the Shagamu Police Division who also rescued the boy who was almost at the point of death.

It was gathered that the boy was found naked on the bare floor with his hands and legs chained with padlocks at both ends of the chain by his father, who said he took the action to curtail the boy's stealing habit.

The boy was also said to be covered in blood with bruises all over his body, a sign that his father had also beaten him mercilessly.

When asked by the police why the boy was in the position, Oreyomi accused him of stealing his N2,000.

A resident in the area, Modupe Okeshola, alleged that it was not the first time the teenager would be dehumanized by his father over several unfounded allegations.

“This is how this boy has been dehumanized by his father. Even if he stole, is this the right way to discipline a child? He even padlocked the chains so that nobody can rescue him.

We had to call the police because we were afraid that the boy might die,” Okeshola said.

The Divisional Police Officer [DPO] of the Shagamu Division, Aduroja Moses, who led a team of policemen to the house to rescue the boy, said he had been taken to a hospital where he is receiving treatment while the father had been arrested and is currently in detention.

“From what the police gathered, the suspect had earlier flogged the son leading to cuts all over his body. He later chained his hands and legs, and locked both ends with padlocks,” Moses said.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO], ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the Commissioner of Police had mandated that the suspect should be charged to court at the end of investigations.

“The Commissioner of Police, , has ordered that the suspect is charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded. He has warned that the Command will not tolerate any act of lawlessness from anybody no matter how highly placed the person is.”
