According to reports, the angry husband had earlier beaten his wife in the daytime after she refused to adhere to his instructions not to attend the party, only for him to come back home with the keg of petrol and emptied the fuel on his wife before setting her on fire.

Efforts made by neighbours to save the life of the woman reportedly went in vain as she died in the inferno.
