Two Afghan soldiers have reportedly poisoned and opened fire on 13 members of their troop.
The sordid incident reportedly took place in Afghanistan’s embattled northern Kunduz province on Tuesday, September 27.
The spokesman for the ministry of defence, Gen. Dawlat Wazir, disclosed that investigation has been launched by the ministry into the incident.
He said, “The two soldiers deserted the small base after killing their fellow troops in Zakhil area on the outskirts of Kunduz city, the capital of the province.
“We have sent a team to the area to investigate the matter."
The Taliban have reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, adding that the base was attacked by members of its troops and seized all their weapons.
Meanwhile, a provincial council member from the province, Amruddin Wali, alleged that the two soldiers were connected with the Taliban, noting that the ministry of defence is yet to clarify the connection of the soldiers to the insurgent group.
