Yoda Cake: The Edible work of Art

The force of amazing creativity and beautiful ingenuity is so strong with baker, Vicki Smith who has created an astounding cake of Star Wars favourite Yoda. The culinary wonder is about a foot high in size.

In a kitchen far in North Wales, Vicki spent a total of about 20 hours crafting the life-like masterpiece of the Jedi master, complete with light saber.

As part of the Star Wars Project: The Bakers Strike Back, which saw a number of  world bakers create some characters from the films to celebrate the new movie; The Force Awakens, the cake was made using chocolate, sugar paste, sponge and candy floss.

This amazing sloth cake is entirely edible apart from the light saber which Vicki created by hand using acetate and a mini light.

“It is mainly chocolate and sugar paste which is hand-sculpted and crafted using a variety of tools,” said the 28-year old baker.

“The texture on the cloak was created using a texture mould and I used the texture from the handle of a potato peeler for the underneath of the cloak.”

The talented Welsh cake artist said one of her favourite parts of making the cake was creating Yoda’s wrinkles, reports the Daily Post.

“Yoda’s hair is made from candy floss and his eyes are hand-painted and finished with an edible glaze,” continued Vicki, who has a reputation for creating stunning cakes.

Vicki is well known for her fantastic cake creations including a sloth cake made from Shredded Wheat, a colony of penguins and a talking Maleficient cake, scooping numerous awards along the way.

The excited Baker said: “I am so glad I got to make Yoda as he’s such a character and I loved creating the expression on his face and giving him soul. I had so much fun.”

Of course, looking at the image above, there is absolutely no doubt of the time put into creating this piece of art.

Question, however; would you eat it if part of the cake was served to you, especially some part of that wrinkled face?
