Couple murdered in their home a month after wedding

A newlywed South African couple, Wamukelwa Memela and Wendy Campbell, has been killed at their home in Branston just about a month after wedding.

Wamukelwa Memela and Wendy Campbell who got married last December were on Thursday, January 15 strangled to death by intruders who made away with only electronic devices.

According to revelations from police investigations, the late Wamukelwa seemed to have argued with the intruders, who then hit him with a garden tool and then dragged him to his bedroom where they tied him up with his wife.

After ransacking the couple’s apartment, the intruders murdered them and made away with their electronics.

According to the father of the husband, Sandile Memela, Memela’s cousin who lives in a lodge at the compound, heard noises during the commotion but thought the couple was arguing.

“The cousin told me that when he woke up to go into the house, he saw that the electronic items were missing, He then saw the blood and rushed into the main bedroom where he was confronted by the bodies. He first thought they were unconscious, but found they were dead,” Sandile Memela said.
