Husband hangs self, thinking he had murdered wife during fight

A man who thought he had killed his wife in a fight, decided to commit suicide.

A case of domestic violence has led to the death of a 41-year-old man identified as Ahmed Olanrewaju, who committed suicide by hanging himself because he thought he had beaten his wife to death during a fight in their home on Sunday, August 2, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to reports, the deceased had used a sledge hammer to hit his wife on the head and she fell down unconscious.

Seeing the danger, he tried several methods to revive her but to no avail and thinking she was dead, he got a rope and hung himself on the ceiling of their apartment.

Some neighbors who heard the couple's fighting, broke into their apartment and found the wife unconscious and the man's dead body dangling from the ceiling.

The woman was rushed to the hospital where she was revived and is responding to treatment.

The police from the Ogbere Division were later called and they removed the corpse which is now deposited at a mortuary.
