Woman loses pregnancy after husband, in-laws assault her

The victim almost lost her life when her husband aided by his mother and sister, beat her to stupor and cut off part of her genitals.

The woman whose identity has been withheld, was reportedly six months pregnant at the time of the attack which took place in Ashkamish district of Takhar province, Afghanistan.

The woman reportedly in her 20's, disclosed that her husband had attacked her, unprovoked with a wooden stick, shaved parts of her head while his mother and sister looked on, helping to tie her up with a rope before beating her within an inch of her life.

Ramz Ara, the head of Takhar's Women's Affairs Department, strongly condemned the brutal attack.

The reports also revealed that the victim was badly mutilated and lost her baby as a result of the terrible incident. Takhar police is reportedly on the hunt for her husband who has since fled the city.
