Iyaji Yegwa, a 23-year-old woman in Okpoma, Yala loval government area of Cross River State was sent to the great beyond by lightning during a thunderstorm while sweeping a church on Saturday, June 6, in preparation for the service the next day.
Woman killed by lightning while sweeping church
A female church worker was struck dead by lightning when she went to sweep the house of the Lord.
According to the pastor of local branch of the Rhema Church where the incident happened, the woman who is a very dedicated church worker was sweeping inside the church when it began to rain and he handed over his mobile phone to her and went to his house to remove the clothes he washed but could not make it back to the church due to the heavy rain.
By the time he got back to the church, he met the woman on the floor dead and raised an alarm.
"There was a lot of and unfortunately, Mrs Yegwa was struck dead by one of those fierce lightnings that hit the church."
