The widow of a young man cut down in his prime by a police officer attached to the Lion Building Police Division of the Lagos State Police Command, Adeniyi Asubiaro, Idiyat, has cried out to the police authorities, begging that the erring officer who snuffed life out of her husband, a computer dealer, be brought to book as any attempt to sweep the murder under the carpet would mean denying her justice.

The 24-year-old lady who just gave birth to a baby girl on Friday, 19th December, 2014, lamented that the mindless murder of her husband has truncated her joy and shattered the plans of the young couple who only got married barely a year ago.

According to PUNCH Metro, the 32-year-old Asubairo was felled by the trigger happy police man whose name was given as Akeem Skoda, on 26th November, 2014, just as he came back from a mosque and was relaxing in front of his home on Oshodi Street, Lagos Island, when a stray bullet reportedly shot by Skoda killed him.

According to the report, Skoda was part of a police patrol team that raided the street after a birthday party went violent few days earlier. But the Lagos State Police Command has repeatedly refuted the allegation, claiming the name Akeem Skoda was not in its database, though a police source reportedly confided in the newspaper that Skoda is not really Akeem's surname but an alias as his real name is Sodiq.

While narrating her ordeal to Punch Newspaper, the grieving widow said her husband's death has brought sorrow and pain to her and her family. "I feel very pained. I never thought our marriage would be this short. His death thwarted all our plans while I was pregnant. We just rented an apartment and planned to move in as soon as I give birth to the baby. It is unfortunate he did not live to see his daughter. I am pleading with the government to ensure that the officer is arrested and prosecuted because my husband was neither a party person nor a thug. Skoda must not be allowed to go scot free. He has made me a widow when I am supposed to be enjoying my marriage."
