A female doctor in Ebonyi State, Dr Jane Glad-Ugba, has been arrested by the state police command for allegedly bathing her 16-year-old houseboy identified as Chidiebere Nwanga, with hot water because he left the door open as well as allowing the yam he was asked to cook to get burnt, reports New Telegraph.
But it was later realised that the woman punished the boy wrongly as the door was left open by her own son.
Nwanga, a Junior Secondary Schoo (JSS) three student of Presco Secondary School, Abakaliki, is said to be currently battling for his life at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, where Dr Ugba, incidentally works.
The badly burnt boy who was equally sent out of the house by his 'madam', was seen roaming streets by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and taken to the hospital where he narrated his ordeal to the men.
He told the NSCDC officials that while Ugba was punishing him for the first offence of leaving the door open, which was actually done by her son, the yam he was cooking got burnt and out anger, Dr Ugba emptied the yam and the hot water on his back and chased him out of the house.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP George Onuorah confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspect who has been charged to court for the offence.
