Obati, from Kona Mbaya village in Kakamenga county, who told his parents he must marry the divorcee or heavens will come down, carried out his threats and promised to do more harm if he is prevented from marrying the woman.

A 21-year-old Kenyan man, Wright Obati, snet shivers down members of his family and friends when, in a state of anger, set his house on fire after he was told he could not marry his 45-year-old lover and mother of eight children.

His distraught father, Patrick Obati, narrated how his son, while accompanied with the woman, arrived at the home on Monday evening to request for his blessings to tie the knot.
“It was after my refusal to grant the two marital blessings that my son, out of anger decided to raze down his own house.”
After the incident, the younger Obati and the woman disappeared but was later found and arrested by members of the Nyumba Kumi security group.

He was taken to the Matunda police station where he is being held for interrogation.
