Comedian recalls his experience with a Port Harcourt prostitute

The comedian took to his Instagram to share his experience with a Port Harcourt prostitute who came to his aid in 2000.

One of Nigeria’s biggest comedians, Bovi Ugboma, popularly known as Bovi, takes to his Instagram page to share his encounter with a Port Harcourt prostitute who sheltered him while he was stranded in the oil city 14 years ago.

Bovi on his Instagram narrates of his journey to Port Harcourt in February 2000 while he was in his third year at Delta State University, Abraka Campus. The comedian recalls that he had planned to surprise his elder sister who had just moved into a new apartment in Port Harcourt.

The stand-up comedian recollects his shock when he got to his sister’s supposed new apartment to discover that she had not moved in yet. “Gsm; non-existent at the time, her office? Closed. I was practically stranded in the garden city,” the comedian writes.

Bovi narrates that he made a decision to go to a “happening joint” to spend his night and hailed a cabman to pick him to the best place. The comedian says he was told by the cabman that there won’t any busy joint as it was on a Tuesday. After searching for a good spot to spend the night, Bovi reveals that they finally got to a joint which was opposite the popular Presidential Hotel, where he had intended t spend the night.

“The groove was real. Outdoor joints, several bar tenders. Pot-bellied men with pretty women drinking away their stress. I found my spot, got a seat, weighed my purse and saw that my vex money had been severely eroded. I couldn't even afford a drink. But hey, I could watch,” the comedian narrates.

Bovi narrates that he was enjoying the fun of watching the shows at the joint when by midnight the shops at the joint closed for the night. The comedian narrates that he had no choice than to plead with the security men to allow him spend the night with them.

All his pleas however fell on deaf ears as the security men were not comfortable with the idea of accommodating a complete stranger. But a prostitute however came to his rescue.

“Not long after, one of the busiest girls of the night walked into the security post. I had seen her severally that night. She had to be the busiest of the girls. Leave in a car, return in okada. That happened at least 4 times. she inquired what the problem was. For the 66th time, I narrated. She paused for a while. I had no idea what she was thinking. Then quietly she asked to see the contents of my bag. Two shirts, one trouser, soap can with blue long sponge and body cream.  And identity card. Finish! She thought for a while again and then made me an offer. She asked me to follow her to her apartment. I wasn't sure what to do. Security didn't want me there. From their eyes I could tell this was my last offer. She "napkined" on the bike ride to her house,” the comedian reveals.

Bovi further adds that when they got to the prostitute's house, she insisted he slept on her bed while she slept on the floor. The comedian recalls that he woke at 5.am the following morning and was giving "three fifty naira notes " by the prostitute as he left her house.
