Housewife in court for allegedly stabbing husband’s lover

A 39-year-old woman has been arrested and arraigned in a court for stabbing her husband's lover in a jealous rage.

Total Media reports that Shosanya who resides at Jebba Street in the Ebute-Meta area of the state, committed the offence on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, after she stormed the home of the victim, Remilekun Adeshina on the same street and picked a fight with her for dating her husband.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Mariam Dauda, told the court that the accused had a misunderstanding with her husband before going to Adeshina’s house to vent her anger on the victim.

“The accused and her husband had a misunderstanding and out of anger, she went to Adeshina’s house and stabbed her all over her body, accusing her of being the reason her husband was hostile to her,” Sergeant Dauda said.

The prosecutor added that the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

But when the charge was read to the accused, Shosanya pleaded not guilty and the Magistrate, Mrs. Helen Omisore, granted her bail in the sum of N10, 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to January 12, 2017, for a mention.
