Michael Bassey, a 20-year-old man who could not control his high libido, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly raping a 19-year-old secondary school student, by an Abeokuta Magistrates' Court, sitting in Ogun State.

A 20-year-old man has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly raping a 19year-old girl.
Bassey who was arraigned before Magistrate Abiola Onifade, by the prosecutor, Inspector Idowu Ogunleye, allegedly committed the offence on June 10, at Command Day Secondary School, Lafenwa, Abeokuta, the state capital.
Ogunleye said the accused who could not provide his residential address, forcefully had an unlawful carnal knowledge of the student and was arrested by soldiers following a manhunt for him.
Ogunleye told the court:
"The 19-year-old girl who attends Premier Secondary School was sent on an errand to Command Day Secondary School.
Half way into the school, the accused suddenly dragged her into the bush, filled her mouth with sand and raped her mercilessly.
She managed to crawl to one of the army checkpoints and the soldiers at the checkpoints went in search of the accused person and subsequently arrested him."
Magistrate Onifade did not however take the plea of the accused as she ordered that he be remanded at the Oba Prison in the state pending Director of Public Prosecution's advice, and then adjourned the matter till August 21 for further hearing.
