Vandal severely burnt while stealing from transformer (Graphic Photo)

A thief who wanted to steal cables from a transformer in Borno State was rewarded with severe burns after power was suddenly restored.

According to a journalist based in the state, Usman Maigana, the thief had sneaked into a transformer unit at the state's School of Nursing located in Maiduguri and was busy stealing cables and other parts from the transformer.

But while at it, electricity power was suddenly restored and that caused a spark which ignited a fire and he was burnt severely and was only rescued by passersby who saw the man in flames.

The delirious man who only escaped electrocution by the whiskers, according to Maigana who posted the photos on his Instagram page, was rushed to a nearby hospital from where he would be handed over to the police when he is discharged.
