Another African has been the target of the xenophobic attacks going on in India, in the same Northern city where two Nigerian students were assaulted in a racist related attack following the death of a local teenager from a suspected drug overdose.

Singh added that the 25-year-old student reportedly suffered bruising from the attack and had to be hospitalised for treatments.

The occurrence took place despite the efforts of the police to step up security in the city's suburbs where mobs reportedly attacked a group of Africans with sticks and metal chairs.

As earlier reported, five suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the attacks with at least four others still at large.
