'Yahoo boys' terrorist is dead

A couple of hours ago, the death of an individual known as Alhaji Gay hit the Nigerian sphere of the Internet.

Within minutes the news of his passing started trending on Twitter.

Alhaji Gay was murdered yesterday, July 19 at Agbado Ijaiye, in Lagos. This was not the first attempt on his life.

Just like millions of other Nigerians who are not aware of the dark secrets of the Yahoo Yahoo (Internet fraud) game, I did not know who he was.

Thanks to Google and a bit of maneuvering on Twitter, I found out who he was.

Alhaji Gay was an informant of the EFCC on Internet Fraud. However, instead of apprehending the Yahoo Boys and hand them over to the relevant authorities, he captures them and demands ransom.

According to legend, if the Yahoo boy could not pay for his 'bail', he would be sodomized by Alhaji Gay. Word on the street was that he was a homosexual.
