After two months, an Air Force officer who murdered his lover because she wanted to end the relationship will now face a court-martial.

The killer officer, Lt. BA Kalu

Punch reports that the decision to make Kalu who has been in custody since the murder of Oladipupo at the NAF base in Makurdi, Benue State, to face the court-martial came at the conclusion of investigations.

Recall that Kalu had, on Sunday, March 12, 2017, shot dead Oladipupo who was also known as Shomzy, in her apartment at the base following allegations that she was cheating on him.

The aircraftman who met the lady at a parade ground some months before the incident had afterward left a suicide note where he before he was arrested by the NAF.

The air force authorities had thereafter taken Kalu for psychiatric tests in the course of their investigation.

A top NAF source who spoke on the condition of anonymity disclosed that the delay in Kalu’s prosecution was because he was attached to the Logistics Command, Ikeja, Lagos State, but served in Makurdi.

“The suspect is still in NAF custody. Everything has been going step-by-step. He will be court-martialled on Friday and by next week, he will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.

He is only serving physically in Makurdi, but his command is in Lagos State. So, the correspondence has taken some time too.”

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, also confirmed the court-martial, saying it would take place very soon.

“We have a procedure in the military and we don’t jump the process. There is a disciplinary committee which goes through investigations, boards of inquiry, summary of evidence and so on.

The last stage is the convening of the court-martial. From all indications, we are at that stage now and it will take place between this week and next week.

It will take place shortly. The NAF can never sweep the matter under the carpet because the crime was an embarrassment to the service.”
