Policeman shoots man over 2,000 naira in Bayelsa

A 34-year-old man, Adamu Mohammed, is currently battling for his life at Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, after he was shot by a police officer over an argument on N2,000 unpaid fees for a menial job carried out by the Bauchi State indigene.

The Nigerian police nabbed a wanted robber on his wedding day.

According to the eyewitness reports, Mohammed was engaged to clear a portion of land by a woman near her home at Erepa Road in the town but after he completed the task, the woman reneged on paying him the agreed sum, with the argument that he did not do the job to her satisfaction.

It was in the hat of the argument that a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), came in and engaged Mohammed in a fight, when a passing police officer shot him in the thigh to demobilise him.Mohammed narrated his ordeal on his hospital bed:

"We agreed on N3,000. But after I finished the work, she said she will pay N1,000. I got angry and she called in some policemen guarding the home of a senior police officer on Erepa Road. The first person that came was a Civil Defence man and he claimed I stabbed him, and the mobile policeman, without asking questions, shot me in the thigh."
