Man rapes mother in Edo

Omoregieva who is at the brink of facing a jail term allegedly beat his parents up and then raped his mother.

Omoregieva was also accused of assaulting his father, whom he hit on the forehead with a piece of wood.

Ayo Augustine, the prosecutor in the case told the court that the accused committed the offence on August 1, at No. 294, Upper Mission, Benin.

He also damaged a sliding window in the house which is valued at N80,000.

According to Augustine, the offence contravenes sections 355, 320 and 358 of the Criminal Code.

Mr F.E. Akhere, the Chief Magistrate revealed that the court lacked the jurisdiction to rule on the case.

He instructed that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for recommendation.
