39-yr-old man arraigned for allegedly impersonating customs officer
The accused is facing a four-count charge bordering on impersonation and theft.
Olabamiji, whose address is unknown, is facing a four-count charge bordering on impersonation and theft.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime in May at Alekuwodo area in Osogbo.
Abiodun said the accused, who posed as a Customs recruitment officer, collected N77, 000 from a job seeker, Amuda Rasaq with a promise to give him a job.
“The accused deceived the complainant and disappeared with the money.”
The offences contravened Sections 390 (d), 419 and 484 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty and her lawyer, Mrs Bose Adeyinka, urged the magistrate to grant her bail on liberal terms.
In her ruling, Magistrate Mary Awodele granted the accused N100, 000 bail with two sureties in the like sum.
Awodele said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and produce evidence of tax payment to the government.
The case was adjourned until July 31 for hearing.
