Tiwa Savage's win

It came as a shock in certain quarters when her name was announced as the winner of the quite competitive category ahead of Davido, who had earlier in the year picked the BET Awards for 'Best International Act' in June at the expense of Tiwa Savage who was also nominated in the category.

But there is no doubt that this win is one recognition fully deserved by the MAVIN first lady for all her hardwork and consistency on the scene, especially in the year under review.

Janet Jackson's performance

The legendary member of the Jackson family, Janet Jackson, who also bagged the special award for 'Global Icon' was in fine form on the night.

During her set, Janet dressed in a flowing outfit rolled back the years with her bare-footed grand entrance, bubbly dancesteps, flipping effortlessly through her intense choreography as she sang both old and new singles in 'Made for Now', 'Rhythm Nation' and the 2001 released anthem 'All for You.'

Camila Cabello wins big

The 'Havana' singer bagged the awards for 'Best Artist', 'Best Video', 'Best US Act'and'Best Song'  emerging victorious over Ariana Grande, who was nominated in five of the six categories that she was also nominated for.

After winning the 'Best Video' award, she said in delight, ''I don’t know what to say! I feel so lucky to even be here tonight, I feel so lucky to even be nominated. Shout out to my wife Ariana who is also nominated.''
