Looking at the past winners of this category, it can be safe to say that their careers 'blew up' after winning the Next Rated category. In 2008, Wande Coal won the award, and two years later he won 6 Headies after the success of his solo debut album 'Mushin 2 Mo' Hits'.
After winning the debut edition of the Next Rated category, Asa went on to conquer Europe with her genre defining album Asa.
