On June, 2020, South African singer and rapper, Sho Madjozi accused Nigerian superstar of telling Stormzy's team to take 'Own It (Remix)' which featured her down from streaming platforms. She also posted evidence.

She wrote, "For those asking where the #Ownitremix is, after I got nominated alongside him for BET Best International Act, Burna boy asked Stormzy’s team to take down the song immediately."
