Earlier this month Tamar Braxton released her third studio album ‘Calling All Lovers’.

There are many times I’ve probably forgotten the American entertainment personality was a singer. I see her more as a reality TV star because of her roles on ‘Braxton Family Values’, ‘Tamar and Vince’ and as a host on 'The Real'.

For those of you who’ve forgotten, Tamar Braxton returns to remind us she embodies the soul of R&B and the spirit of love.

The three-time Grammy Award-nominated artist’s 16-track album is made up of R&B and Hip-Hop songs. It begins with the unexpected - a reggae vibe on the opening track ‘Angels and demons’. The following track ‘Catfish’ has a 90s R&B ring to it. From the title of the song, you can guess what it’s all about: a guy pretending to be someone else. She brings the funk to life on ‘Must be good to you’.

Calling All Lovers” is about real love, and being true. Braxton clears it out on ‘Simple things’ and says it’s not about the material things. It’s also a celebration of love. This is evident in ‘Raise the bar’, ‘I love you’ and ‘King’. (I’m guessing these songs are dedicated to her husband Mr. Vince Herbert. Free Fallin’ is a hypnotic love ballad. Listening to this song, one can feel the heartbeat of passion, emotion, affection and enchantment in it.

With love (and lust), there’s always flirting involved, Tay Tay reveals her naughty side in ‘Love It’ and 'S.O.N'.

The album is about heartbreak too. On ‘Broken record’, she’s brave enough to be open about being vulnerable and loving someone who wouldn’t return her love.

Sometimes break ups can be a good thing. Tamar’s new project is also about embracing self worth and standing up for oneself. She expresses this on ‘Never’ and ‘Circles’.

Clearly, Tamar Braxton’s album reveals her understanding and experience with love; covering all the subjects regarding this feeling from falling in love to heartbreak. The album gives off that R&B impression with the instrumentals setting the mood and the lyrics giving you that sense where you feel like you can connect with the singer and are almost convinced she read your mind put your thoughts in a song.

‘Calling All Lovers’, this one if for you.

Best songs: ‘Angels and Demons’, ‘Catfish’, ‘I love you’, ‘Love It’ and  ‘Must Be Good to you’.
