‘Comeback’ is a word loosely thrown around for in the industry for artistes and performers who have taken breaks. That word is resurfacing again, with 2shotz being the latest to be associated with a ‘comeback’.

A veteran, 2shotz began his rap career in 1992, and has had a long journey to this point. The C.E.O of Beard Gang Nation, who has been silent for a long while, released his debut album, " in 2004, under his Umunamu independent label. This was followed by ", "and ".

These days 2shotz’s name in the news has not really been covered in glory. Shocking stories of misogyny and battering his ex-girlfriend Beverly Osu, and later his wife have made him a media pariah, covered in dirt, filth, and stains, he has been far away from his music. He returns this year, a forgotten man, and ready to seek redemption via music, and embrace his first true essence.

Spotting a decent 9 tracks, “Loud Silence” is a mnemonic oxymoron on which 2shotz brings us all into his current music state. He acknowledges his return and the changing music landscape in ‘Competition’. “I step back, took time, I came back…it’s about time to show the world wetin we sabi, cause these small boys no fit handle wetin we carry’. He also comes through with eLDee on the song ‘Been there, done that’, a gem of a song which brings back memories. The duo had first worked 16 years ago when 2shotz and his rapper friend 2Ply signed on to eLDee’s Trybe Records. On the touching ‘Forever’, he bares his pain, reminisces on his great past, the fickle nature of the industry, and his 2 decade worth of lessons that he has accumulated at every turn.

This comeback reflective vibes become chest pumping on the ego-driven ‘Boss’ track. 2shotz is a boss on a relative level, being an inspiration to a generation of young Igbo rappers.

The quintessential 2shotz can be found on the 2013-released ‘Kpokpo Dikpo’. Here he brings on his relatable humor and comic wordplay to great effect, working through the industry, down to the larger issues such as nation mismanagement, and suffering of the masses.

Not all is heavy-laden, as the electronic ‘Banging’ brings on the dance, and ‘You ain’t crazy’ is fiery and fusing. You can easily become beholding by Shank’s patois rap, and Beazy’s energy vibe.

“Loud Silence” has a semi-retired 2shotz digging deep into his fountain of experience and skill, to steer the conversations about him back to the right path. You get a feeling that 2shotz unburdened himself with the release of this mixtape, clearing his personal space for a push with an album.
