Music legend blasts Kanye West's BRIT Awards performance

The veteran act says Kanye's use of the N word is for shock value, and questions if he will be relevant within the next ten years.

Soul icon Lionel Richie wasn't all too happy with Kanye West's performance at the BRIT Awards in London on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.

Lionel Richie was at the award ceremony to present Mark Ronson with his Best single award. The music legend found Kanye's performance of his new song 'All Day' disturbing because of his use of the N word.

Speaking to Daily Mirror, Lionel Richie said "Am I a fan of the N-word? Not coming from the 1960s and '70s. Whereas the new world has embraced it. I don’t think it’s Ok for a black man to use the N-word. I don’t like it – and I am a black man. I don’t think it should be said and become normal... Kanye is giving us the generation shock value. How he carries on for the next 10 years, we will see" he said.

Lionel Richie isn't the only celebrity that had an issue with Kanye's performance. Lead singer of the defunct rock group Oasis Liam Gallagher described the rap star's performance as "utter sh&t" on his Twitter page.
