Leriq's solo debut, ''Luv.Wav'' is a soulful ride to an enchanting destination

With ''Luv Wav'', Leriq packs the right skills to surf through a challenging debut tidal wave.

Talented producer/singer and songwriter, Eric Isaac Utere, who goes by the stage name Leriq, has been part of the industry longer than a minute.

He first got recognition for his work on Burna Boy's 2012 hit single, Like To Party, and went on to work with him on his EP, ''Burn Identity'' and produce the debut album L.I.F.E (Leaving an Impact for Eternity) in 2013.

Following a period that saw the duo fall apart, Leriq and Burna Boy mended fences, which saw him working on his 2016 EP, Redemption.

Even though, Luv Wav is termed his debut project, Leriq had originally released a producer album in 2015, titled 'The Lost Sounds'.

The album solely produced by him featured artistes such as Illbliss, Chidimma, Burna Boy, Cassper Nyovest, Wande Coal, Seyi Shay, Wizkid, Phyno, 2face Idibia, Bez, Naeto C and Timaya.

It is on 'Luv Wav' that he gets his full chance to flaunt his vocal and musical skills and he seizes the opportunities with both hands

'Luv Wav' is a body of work entirely themed on expressions of love with the lead song, 'Think of You' which features the uprising talent, Ed iZycs opening with some imperious horns as Leriq displays his well-cultured vocals, while the beat keeps going ham on this.

'Luv and Affection' offers a sound totally different, could do a samba to this or even fit into your shaku shaku moves, this is delightful music, as he offers to give love and affection to the want his heart wants.

'Fantasy' has a good bounce as time time, he is in search of love, the vocal alterations are well fitted, while ', which is the lead single and has seen the visuals released, interpolates strings that makes it a vibrant lovers' anthem.

'Without You' features another guest in Sneary Special and comes complete with the charm of a 90's sensual RnB song, while the waves finally lands with 'Only You', where Leriq again professes exclusive love to his baby.

At 7-songs long, ''Luv Wav'' has you demanding for more from the creative wells that Leriq possesses in abundant.

The project even though suffers slightly from having songs being all similar in its aim, is however well served to give a taste of what he has to offer and yet sensitive not to make it too familiar and lose the spell it casts on you.

The emotions, lyrical clarity, earnest confessions and sharp delivery sees Leriq rise to the challenge of being the man who gets the focus of the audience.

This is one project with the replay factor on a lock-down, and a solid effort that ensures Leriq finds a near perfect landing on his debut solo flight.
