Rapper pleads not guilty to murder and drug trafficking charges

The buzzing rap act is currently being held on a $2m bail which his record label has agreed to pay.

American rapper Bobby Shmurda, the mastermind behind the breakout single 'Hot Nigga;, and the viral dance move known as the 'Shmoney Dance' has plead not guilty to drug trafficking and murder charges.

The 20 year old rapper was arrested last week after police operatives identified him as the head of a dangerous street gang based in New York City.

Other members of his crew known as GS9 were also arrested. During the arrest, police officers seized 21 guns from the suspects. 10 out of these 21 guns were obtained on the same day.

Bobby Shmurda's attorney Howard Greenberg has denied his client's involvement in these charges.

"Does it make sense that he would resort to committing crimes when he has the world in the palm of his hand? It's ridiculous. He is a legitimate entertainer. He is rich. He is busy. He is always on tour" said Howard Greenberg to AP.

The rapper is now being held on a $2m bail, which his record label Epic Records have reportedly agreed to pay.
