Uche Jombo thanks Nigerians for making movie set box office record

NIGERIA STAND UP! We are breaking records and on our way to make history. You all came out this past weekend in your masses to make  the highest grossing opening weekend Nollywood movie, for this, we are forever grateful! You have proven that Nigerians have not given up on Nollywood . The support from our colleagues in the industry has been overwhelming, we couldn't have done this without you! You have once again reiterated one of the bold morals of  - "together we can achieve more".

There is still so much work to be done, let's work together to make history, by making  the highest grossing movie in Nigeria . Remember  is not just a movie, its a movement. A movement preaching the Girl Child cause, the power of solidarity, one Nigeria, the power of women in our society and how we can together move mountains. You all have been amazing! GOD bless you and the work of your hands. Continue to spread the news of  to all the people around you. This win is NOT just for the team. its a Win for NOLLYWOOD.

"Wives on Strike" features Uche Jombo, Chioma Akpotha, Ufuoma Mcdermott, Kehinde Bankole, Kalu Ikeagwu, Julius Agwu, Kenneth Okonkwo among others.

The movie kicked off its first cinema week with 290 shows.

The movie is a hilarious comedy about a group of market women who decided to take matters into their own hands against their husbands in a bid to stir them into standing up for a young girl whom they wanted to protect from the wishes of her own father.

The women, who hilariously interpret their roles, set a series of events in motion to give the movie many moments of laughter without missing a beat on the reason for everyone to know why they are on strike.
