In 1996, that actor was Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, who with her interpretation of the character Kemi, established herself as a potential star.

Dedicated to the families of millions who have died or are suffering from Sickle cell anemia, "Mortal Inheritance" defined the actress' acting career.

Plot

Released in 1996, "Mortal  Inheritance" is a romantic drama about a young woman Kemi, who is  battling with sickle-cell anaemia.

She meets and falls in love with Chike. But when she realizes that Chike has the sickle cell trait, she ends the relationship.

The movie also delves into tribalism and the resistance to inter ethnic marriage in Nigeria.

The movie starred the actress alongside Fred Amata, Kunle Bamtefa, Obiageli Molebe and Abiola Atanda.

An Andy Amenechi film, "Mortal Inheritance" was written by Bond Emeruwa and produced by Zeb Ejiro.

Creating the chemistry in "Mortal Inheritance'

To create the palpable chemistry with the character Chike, the actress had to spend quality time with the actor, Fred Amata.

According to the actress, Amata, who was already a director in Nollywood, had to demystify himself to create chemistry with her, who was at that time, an up-and-coming actress.

"But, we made that easy by me spending time with him. He kind of like demystifiedhimself. We had chemistry and I'm hoping that all of these comes back to Nigerian movies," she said during the press screening for her comeback movie, "Alter Ego."

A widely acknowledged classic, "Mortal Inheritance" has remained relatable over time and is arguably one of Ekeinde's best works yet.
