Comedian receives backlash for past tweets

A day after Comedy Central announced South African comedian Trevor Noah as Jon Stewart's successor on the 'The Daily Show', Noah is already in a Twitter controversy.

Noah is being criticised for his past tweets which has been described as 'offensive', 'sexist' and 'anti-Semitic'.

According to BuzzFeed Business editor, Tom Gara, who pointed out Jon's past tweets, the 31-year-old should've done a "quick Twitter cleanup" before getting his new appointment.

There have been no comments from Comedy Central nor Noah.

Noah however took to Twitter this morning, tweeting - "Twitter does not have enough characters to respond to all the characters on Twitter." But the tweet was deleted shortly after post.
