Movie battles 'Pitch Perfect' for box office supremacy

George Clooney's much anticipated sci-fi epic, Tomorrowland, finally made its debut but failed at the US box office.

Brad Bird’ssci-fi film 'Tomorrowland ' narrowly beat  blockbuster 'Pitch Perfect 2' at the Memorial Day box office with an estimated debut of $32.2 million.

The live-action fantasy adventure film which stars top actor George Clooney, cost $180 million to produce.

Despite its top place, 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' is still leading with $46.4M followed by Mad Max: Fury Road with $38.2M.

Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank, jaded by disillusionment, and Casey, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.”

'Tomorrowland' is directed by Brad Bird and produced by Damon Lindelof.
