Natalie Portman isn't returning as Jane Portman, Tessa Thompson joins cast

Natalie Portman who played Jane Foster in “Thor” and “Thor: The Dark World,” will not return for the upcoming "Thor" film.

 

According to a report by Deadline, Tessa Thompson has joined the cast in an unspecified 'superhero' role.

A report by The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Natalie Portman who played Jane Foster in “Thor” and “Thor: The Dark World,” will not return for the upcoming film. Reasons for Portman’s departure wasn’t revealed.

In December 2015, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that the upcoming Thor film will be set largely in the "cosmos,a" with "very little" of the story taking place on Earth.

Mark Ruffalo has been set to return as Hulk, who will embark on a "cosmic road trip" with Thor.

Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) are part of the confirmed returning cast. Jaimie Alexander is also expected to be back as Lady Sif.

In 2015, Marvel Comics revealed the newundefined, who originally appeared way back in 1962, as the love interest to Dr. Donald Blake, originally Thor’s alter ego.

Thor: Ragnarok comes to theaters November 3rd, 2017.
